| Asked to tender for Metro-Active against two other design agencies in Yorkshire the purpose of the campaign was to encourage young people 11-18 years to use bus travel for their journeys. A discounted cheap flat-fare of £1 called Metro Active was to be introduced to motivate bus usage, while a secondary aspect of the campaign, and as a reason to undertake extra journeys, was to link it to health activities like ‘Change for Life’ and ‘Free Swim in West Yorkshire’. |
Our thinking was to create and promote Metro-Active with a radical, bold and youthful online and offline marketing campaign that was hip. Helping to perceive catching the bus as cool once again between 11-18 year olds currently in school or higher education. Helping WYPTE to increase leisure journeys and encourage independent bus travel whilst encouraging 11-18 year olds to get involved in sports and recreational activities and events in West Yorkshire rather than spending their days stuck in doors in front of a T.V or games console.

Radical, bright and bold A4, A3 and 6-sheet poster campaigns were designed and displayed on buses and in bus and train stations throughout West Yorkshire, While larger format posters canvassed bus shelters and bill-boards on major routes into and out of Leeds city centre. Information packs and marketing literature were then distributed in schools and leisure clubs while adverts and PR campaigns were strategically placed in newspaper and magazines promoting Metro-Active to encourage the uptake of the £1 ticket. Successfully promoting over the summer active lifestyles, encouraging sport, recreational activities and getting 11-18 year olds to visit no cost or low cost events in West Yorkshire, our designers in Leeds were delighted when WYPTE asked us to create and market the Metro-Active Refresh the following year in 2010 View Site > http://www.wymetro.com |
